What is: " Lenovo - Extension - 1.0.0.0 "

2020-12-17, 8:34 AM

Windows update had downloaded file for me and is ready to apply it.

It is called:  " Lenovo - Extension - 1.0.0.0 "

Can anybody tell me what is in this "extension" package?

Thanks,

Jim

Thanks!

It says "ThinkPad T490 CML STM TPM Firmware"  that was release back in 2019...

very odd that I'd only get it delivered a year later ...

I will look into that - thank you!

This update today came via Windows Update to my E595 Thinkpad (AMD Based) and it messed up my NVMe SSD drivers totally ( PM981  MZVLB512HBJQ-00000/07 ) which was ordered via lenovo as an upgrade when ordering the computer. Speed is terrible it all is messed up. It should not have come to this laptop anyways and is old as can be so it makes no sense.

have you found a way to un-install it?

My T480 with intel video now flashes black boxes on the screen from time to time.

I'm not 100% sure it's related I have not had time to mess with it....

I don't understand why old updates that were publish a long time back are suddenly being pushed with no way to opt-out.

Under "Check for Updates"  --> view optional updates -->  driver updates I have several with publish dates in 1968 (really... 1968) ....

My problem was after that said update my laptop started green screening during bootup before login screen compaining about storage driver issue and my read and write speeds on that NVMe SSD had fallen to around 300MB/sec when should be and have been topped arounf 3,500 MB/s of sequential read 3,000 MB/s of sequential write as indicated here: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/samsung-pm981-980-nvme-ssd,5323.html I had to roll back to previous restore point before major update when it was not greenscreening and before that update came, lost a lot of stuff (files etc.) in progress and then installed samsung driver for the NVMe, since I could not find the one that came with Lenovo Thinkpad E595 and still my speeds are only about 700MB/sec so I am not actually a happy camper as I need that transfer speed for video editing. I hope this can be solved since I am seriously going to have to start thinking about total re install of the system to be able to work.

Wow .... that stinks...................

my issues are much smaller ...

The information on what it is for is very lacking ... I have a T480 not sure why I got it in the first place,

and even had we known it was bad... I'm not sure how we would have been able to block it being pushed to our machines????
