Win 8(.1) Lenovo Settings detailed battery information missing.

2013-11-11, 16:17 PM

Just got a new thinkpad with Win 8, upgraded to 8.1. When looking at the power options in the Lenovo Settings App it looks like a lot of functionality is missing compared to the old Power Manager days.

Is there anyway to get the detailed battery health information. Design Wh, Max Wh, Current Wh, Current power usage in W etc. The ability to track the battery's max capacity over time help me decide when to replace it. The "good" condition indication Lenovo Settings gives me is not very useful.

Am I missing some magic options somewhere to get into advanced mode? Or has this functionality been killed.

Power Manager as we knew it is gone from W8/8.1 and won't be returning from what I'm to understand...

Cheers,

Looking at cycle counts and actual capacities was a nice differentiating feature. Do we know what the thresholds are for the "good", "poor", "battery exhaustion" are?

Yes, as was the ability to set one's own charging threshholds, which is gone as well.

I don't believe that there were any values set in stone for "good", "poor" etc at any point in the game. My understanding is that it was a combination of several different factors.

Cheers,

George
