error 0210 stuck key 38 on T400

2009-10-14, 22:10 PM

Hi, I have T400 running windows 7 64 bit. Today my keyboard stoppded working after windows updated but mouse was working. I tried to check the device manager. It says it is working fine and also tried to update key board driver but there was no update.

After that I tried to retstart but now get this 'error 0210 stuck key 38' at the start and sysmtem dont boot up at all. Tried multiple time but no luck. Tried to go to Bio but cant do anything because Keyboard not working there  either.

Plz can anybody help me guide what kind of problem it is like sotware or harware or Bios issue.

I believe your T400 is in a need of a new keyboard, I recommend calling support for assistance. They will probably send you a new keyboard, I guess.

This is a problem with the keyboard electronics, so a replacement will most likely be needed.

well. I was sad. then I goggled it and found virtual keyboard. After using it my key board on t400 started working again perfectly. it seems there some error that locks key board but get unlocked by using virtual keyboard. it happened again after that but resolved by the method as i described above. Trying to update windows 7 and hopefully it will be resolved. it think it  gets locked by pressing 'Enter' key inappropriately.

The new version of PC Doctor is called Lenovo System Toolbox, if you don't already have it on your T400, download it here:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-67520.html

Hope it helps.

updated by windows updates and run PC doctor lenovo tool after that. It did not identify any driver or harware problems in the system. manually check key board status there and it is not showing any issues. then run 'key board keys test' on this pct doc too by pressing all the keys. No issues at all were identified.

Now my orignal issue  is still there that key board gets locked after i start my sytem and get resolved by pressing any key on virtual windows keyboard.

is it more like to be sotware/driver issue or still you guys thinks it is hardware?

you should try the laptop with the original OS that was shipped with it. There is a chance that your laptop is having trouble with the 64 bit Win 7.
