t430 Class 10 SDHC

2012-11-01, 21:02 PM

Hello,

I just recieved my t430 with the standard 4-in-1 SD reader. I was given a class 10 SDHC card by one of my professors to use for an assignment, but cannot get the card to show up as a drive in my computer. The card is inserted properly. I've checked my computer with a class 4 SDHC card; it found the drive fine and was able to read it. I've reinstalled the drivers for the reader and made sure that the drivers were correct. I've been trying to figure this out.

I was wondering if anyone has had this problem, and a solution?

Thank you.

I guess that is important information. Sorry for not including it.  The card I was given by my professor is a 4gb Verbatim SDHC card. The card I was given has a couple of .mov files that I am supposed to watch if that matters. The other card I used to test on my computer was a Sandisk, I can't find the size because I don't have access to it now.

Erm....

The card that was given by your professor, is it workable on other's laptop or card readers? Can test that?

What's your operating system? Does anything show up in Device Manager when you insert the card?

What if you use an external card reader?

I'm running Windows 7 professional 64-bit and there are no changes on the device manager. It is like the system does not notice anything got inserted. Thank you for any help you can provide and just taking the time to look at my problem. I haven't had access to an external reader yet I think they will be available in class so I'll try that tomorrow.

Curious. Does does the card appear in Disk Management but without an assigned letter?

I've got one unnamed drive in my disk management but it has way to much space to be the SDHC card. The represented space is 14.91gb.

When I insert and remove the SDHC card the computer doesn't make the normal device attached / device removal sounds.

It is possible for a 16GB SDHC card, because you didn't mentioned the size and whether it appears even when your card is not present.
