I would like to aquire the 4337 Dockstation with a 45N0113 170w power supply to use for my T520 I7 quad core to connect 3 monitors for my flight simulater, can someone please confirm i have done the correct research / findings?
My T520 has eSata and not USB3 so it seems not a good option to go for the 4338 unless I am missing something which is more important for my flightsim and 3 monitors :-)
Thanks for your time, much appreciated

The 170W power connector is physically different. I have never seen a 4337 dock with the 170W connector; I think it only was available for the 4338. Could you consider 135W? I have never used a quad core T520 but I would expect it would run at full speed with 135W.
I used eSATA for a long time and liked it, but it seems to be a dying technology. I generally use a USB3 -> SATA adapter.

Thanks for your reply, I have no need for usb3 at the moment and the 4337 should be ok for me 'I think', but I am confused about the on-line advice, I have spent many hours to find the correct details about the power supply, but for sure is that the 90w coming with the 4337 is only for dual cpu. I was also thinking of leaving the 65w connected to the laptop and use the 90w connected to the 4337, but again no useful information to find either as it seems only one can be connected for as far as I can find out. I only found some 'suppliers' mention to use the 4337 with quad core use a 170w. Unless someone here in the forum can confirm it will work fine with a 130w, I need to find out which is the best power supply.

I think only one power supply can be connected at a time and the machine senses the type (wattage) from the signal pin. If you are using 3 monitors, you must have nVIDIA and that won't run at full speed with 65W, even with dual core. If I were using a dock, quad core CPU and nVIDIA, I would use at least 135W. 170W PS has different plug that is only available with one flavor of 4338 dock.

Yes, T520 specs are i7-2640M(2.8GHz), 8GB RAM, 500GB SSD, 15.6in 1600x900 LCD, NVIDIA NVS 4200M 1GB, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn wireless, WWAN, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure Chip, Fingerprint reader, Camera, 9c Li-Ion, Win7 Pro 64/ Linux Debian 8.
Thanks for the advice, I will try to find a 135w psu and hope it will work all fine then.
Just for the future do you know which flavor of the 4338 will only work with the 170w?
