After enabling Security Chip in BIOS, T420 not booting past POST

Hi, I'm having this issue:

After enabling the IBM Security Chip in the system BIOS, the system will no longer boot beyond the POST screen.

Google found a Lenovo support page (with the above title), however I can't access it so I don't know how to fix it.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: After enabling Security Chip in BIOS, T420 not booting past POST

can you still go into the bios and disable the security chip?

Yep, I can still get into the bios.

I have tried changing the security chip option to active/inactive/disabled, and cold-booting.

I have also tried cold booting, and using the 'clear security chip' option, with no luck.

It is apparently stuck in a POST loop.

try to reset the bios to the factory setting and see if that helps. Otherwise you need to send the laptop in for service.

Yep, thanks, I tried selecting 'Load defaults' -> save and restart with no luck.

It's interesting becuase I thought I needed to turn this on to use bitlocker... and now it's as good as dead!

What a pain!
