BIOS v2.48.1.12 update on T440p

Has anyone had any issues installing the latest BIOS update for T440p?

My doesn't want to update, it goes through the normal steps, but before the reboot, I am greeted with a blank screen. Pressing the power button to switch off the laptop I hear 2 short beeps then 3 short beeps, but the laptop will not power off. I have to remove the battery to force it to power down.

It will reboot as normal, but the BIOS update has failed.

Re: BIOS v2.48.1.12 update on T440p

We have not updated our Bios yet for the Spectre and Meltdown attacks. I checked in here to see if others had a problem with updating and issues (slower computer) after the update.

One caution I have read about elsewhere is it takes quite awhile for the update to get written to the bios prom chip. A caution in the instrutctions sez---

Attention:
Do not turn off or suspend the computer until the update has been completed.
IF YOU DO THAT WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL IN PROGRESS, THE SYSTEM BOARD MAY
HAVE TO BE REPLACED.

I'd try again and give it an hour, or maybe longer to finish. Hopefully others will post how long it takes their update to finish.

I tried again, left it on overnight for 10 hours, but no change.

Still won't update.

I wish I could help you, but I can't.
Try posting your original post here to the Security & Malware forum.

I asked in a post there about problems folks were having, some with a bricked computer. 1 person said, either on the this T forum or maybe on the X forum about how he was at a Lenovo repair facility and they said his main board needed to be replaced--iow bricked.
I left some links to those with problems--including your post.
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Security-Malware/Why-are-so-many-users-experiencing-a-bricked-computer-...

And try to contact an Lenovo reapir facility in AU.
