Backup suddenly halfen disc space

A while ago I tried to make a Rescue & recovery backup.

At first I wanted to safe the backup on  my external harddisk, however this somehow failed.

After the backup, suddenly my disk space went from approximately 40gb to 20gb.

How can I find the backup and delete it? And put it on my external harddisc instead?

Re: Backup suddenly halfen disc space

Go the the "Enhanced Backup Restore" Lenovo tool you used. You will see an selection in there to removed backups.

The tool does not allow any control that I can see to direct the backup. I have always used TrueImage for my backup images and it can be put anywhere during the process. As the file can also be moved if so desired.

What Lenovo's tool does is totally against best practices. Doing an image backup into the very partition its imaging. If something goes wrong it could trash that partition. Always write to another partition or drive. Ideally external via eSATA gives the fastest time to complete via TrueImage or Ghost (haven't used it in years though).

I created a backup partition on my 500GB OEM drive and do an internal TrueImage backup to that so it is NOT WRITING to the drive its reading and imaging. Much safer!!

There are options for backing up to CD/DVD, external hard drive, and USB thumb drive. You should never put backups on the originating drive since that defeats the purpose.
