I can find no Lenovo documentation anywhere that explains how to use the two buttons, numbered
1 and 2, in the upper left-hand corner of this docking station.
Button 2 is the large, square, eject button. If I understand correctly, if I want to eject my Thinkpad (T500)
from the dock, I first choose an eject command somewhere in software, then press this button
to mechanically eject the computer from the dock. Correct?
Button 1, just above Button 2, is a thin, rectangular, metal switch of the kind you'd use to engage and
disengage functions on an audio receiver. I have no idea how to use it or what it's for. Can someone explain?

The button that is listed as "1" is to send the command to undock the laptop from the dock. The button listed as "2" is the physical eject button. These buttons work with the Lenovo Easy Eject software that is installed on the laptop. To use the buttons, you simply press the button "1" and the light will flash for a moment then it will switch to button "2". Once button "2" is lit, then you press it to eject.
Hope this helps you.
