Is there a BIOS update that updates the SLIC table so that Windows 7 can be installed as an OEM OS?
SLIC, which stands for Software Licensing Description Table, is a digital signature placed inside the BIOS by the system manufacturer, and can be found in the ACPI table.
The SLIC does not contain an active code.
Systems are preactivated with an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) product key, and an XML formatted OEM certificate will be verified against the SLIC in BIOS.
Installation of Windows from OEM disks on a machine without a license is illegal. To upgrade systems that originally shipped with XP or Vista preloaded, you will need either an OEM or Upgrade Windows 7 license that will come with an activation key.
