From the information I gathered on this forum and some other places, it seems the 65W T61 power adapter is compatible with the graphic card integrated T400 thinkpad. Is the 72W T42 power adapter can also be used on T400 Integrated, descrete? I read the information on the adapter, it is 16V output instead of 20V.
My T400 has not been delivered yet, just want to make decision whether to keep the old power adapter, without being plug it in and destroy the new one.

tjphoton, welcome to the forum,
no it cannot. As you correctly point out they have different voltage outputs, they also have a different "plug" connector, the reason being; to help you avoid "bricking" your ThinkPad. Connecting the wrong adapter could be fatal.
The 65W adapter is for systems with integrated graphics in the X/T/R 6* series, those that have discrete graphics, (X excluded), have a 90W adapter.
Hope this helps.
