Cannot set correct screen resolution in Windows 10 on T510

2015-09-19, 13:21 PM

I just updated to Windows 10 from Windows 7 and I can't set the resolution above 1280x800 even though the display resolution should be 1600x900.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there are driver fix?

Thanks.

Hello and welcome,

Have you tried the monitor INF file for the T510/Win 10?  It's here on the T510 download page:

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it, but it didn't help.

I think it's related to the Display Adapter. The adapter is listed as a Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, and if you go to "List All Modes" the highest resolution is 1280x800. The driver for the adapter is from 2006. I think this is what I need to update.

This still isn't resolved. I've installed everything for Windows 10 and run System Update. Apparently others have had this same issue when upgrading from Windows 7, though. Basically Windows 8/10 won't recogize some Display Adapters and changes them to the Microsoft Basic Display adapter.

For example:

Yes, it is activated. I upgraded directly through Windows Update.

In Device Manager, if you click to update the driver, anything happen if you let Windows search for a driver?

Did you try to install the driver from the downloads page for the 510?  Here.

Or, try the Microsoft Catalog for the driver listed at Lenovo.

Click next page until you find the 8.15.10. 2622 driver and download that file.  Then point to it in Device Manager when you attempt to upgrade the driver.

Thanks, Skoop.

Whenever I try to update the driver Windows says I already have the most up-to-date driver. The T510 doesn't actually have any display drivers for Windows 10. I get errors when I try to install the other ones.

In the Device Manager it actually shows 2 Microsoft Basic Display Adapters and the one has a yellow warning sign on it. The device status says

"This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

The driver trying to start is not the same as the driver for the POSTed display adapter."

I also just found out that I can't projecy my screen without updating the display adapter. It makes my dock and monitors useless.
