Did I get scammed / defrauded? Lenovo "genuine" 01AV427 battery for T480. (experts please help)

I recently bought two 01AV427 battery Txx series for use in my T480 20L5000UUS, from an eBay third party seller for. I already have one for daily use and was looking to get more battery packs since I have begun to increasingly travel for business.

eBay seller's picture of the battery:

I received both batteries but they don't look similar to my original 01AV427 battery.

Here are the following pictures of what I received:

  1. The "Lenovo" logo that is supposed to be on the upper left corner has been covered up by another sticker.
  2. The text and font orientation doesn't appear to be completely correct.
  3. There are a few QC seals (white sticker with red text) that has conflicting information compared to the barcode that is on the battery.

Here are the pictures of the battery's boxes:

  1. The boxes are completely generic devoid of Lenovo seal, or any indication of manufacturer and/or producer information.
  2. Only items inside are: 3 piece of foam, 1 antistatic bag.

I just noticed that he eBay listing censors the Lenovo logo with the seller's name. When I approached the seller and asked why this was done, the seller said it was to comply with eBay regulations not allowing sellers to display the manufacturer brand name. As I got suspicious, I called eBay support directly and they confirmed that this was not the case, the seller lied to me for one reason or another.

I also asked the seller directly if he/she was actually selling a genuine battery, but the reponses was all defensive and tried to avoid the question entirely.

It was shipped with DHL instead of UPS/USPS/FedEx.

I have not insterted this battery into my T480.

Can Lenovo Vantage offer any information regarding this fake batteries by reading its info?

Is this an original battery or have I been scammed / defrauded by a knockoff (fake) battery that has been made to appear like an original battery?

I have full details of the seller's profile information, store information, and payment information if Lenovo employees request them for verification or legal purposes. And will cooperate to my best extent to help figure this problem out.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Tessat97! Welcome to our forums community! Buying parts from any unauthorized outlets doesn't guarantee its authenticity and compatibility. If you're in the US, you can buy it from here: . For more information on the battery, you can check it here: Below is the picture of the authentic battery.

One question, is it possible for a Genuine battery to have an identical barcode number / battery serial?

Given if they're manufactured within the same Month/Year or just a few monthsapart from each other?
