Difference between 6 Cell Li-iion Cyl HC Rear (72Wh) and 6 Cell Li-ion (47Whr) Cylindrical

2014-07-09, 17:03 PM

Hi Tech teams,

I went to the lenovo site to customize a T440S Thinkpad and got stuck at the REAR BATTERY selection. I have searched in google and the site and could not see the picture difference's between 6 Cell Li-Ion Cyl HC Rear (72Wh) and 6 Cell Li-ion (47Whr) Cylindrical. I know those will be large and will bulge out of the laptop.

But I would like to understand in which way and want to see the pictures of the laptop fitted with these 2, so that I can proceed with my order. Will it come out like a cylindrical bulge at the back of the laptop or at the bottom it will have an extra step like thing. Why dint the lenovo put 3 different pictures showing the laptop with these batteries in the "help me decide" option while customizing the laptop. That would have been very nice to the customers. I have wasted 2 hours to compose this and search everywhere, without any resolution. I found a similar thread in some forum, asking for the pictures, and no one replied him as well. Please see the below screenshot.

Thanks

Manu

Thanks a lot for the reply. I understand that 72 w battery will have a bulge at the bottom of the laptop and the other 48w battery will have a bulge like a semicircle at the side of the laptop where u plug the power. Is it right ? Please confirm my understanding.

2nd doubt though is 8.1 windows look like windows 7. Please confirm.

Thanks

MP

There are no bulges in case of 3-cell (23.5Wh) battery, it repeats laptop bottom case contour. 47,5wh and 72wh (6-cell both) look almost identically, have appreciable bulge downwards.

While I have always liked the larger battery configurations for my older ThinkPads, where the battery protrudes out from the back of the machine, the thought of having the bulge on the bottom and thus changing the angle of the machine while working on it was not appealing to me. So I bought 2 extra 3 cell batteries for my T440s which I keep charged in my bag.

However, after the fact, it would have been quite enough to get just a single spare as I have never run out of juice while working on it.

ThinkPad P1 - i7-8750H/32GB // ThinkPad P70 - Xeon E3-1505M/64GB
ThinkPad W540 (20BG) - i7-4800MQ/32GB // ThinkPad W520 (4282-W4Q) - i7-2720QM/32GB
ThinkPad T450s (20BW) - i7-5600U/12GB // Yoga 900 - i7-6500U/8GB
ThinkPad T61 (7665-CTO) - T7700/4GB // ThinkPad T60p (8741-C2G) - T7400/4GB

How much did you pay for the extra 3 cell battery?!

Thanks!
