Wow! Puzzling, so two completely different cables: same problem. It seems like a driver issue to me. Have you attempted to completely uninstall the displayport drivers and reinstall?

I am mistaken, they would be included with the normal display/video drivers, sorry about that. That being said, have you tried to uninstall and reinstall those drivers? That sometimes solves issues similar to this one.

Hmnn, something weird.
Following some instructions from here
says that the Intel display hdriver thing needs to show up in the device manager under display adapters. It doesn't. Also should be visible in Add/remove programs list, but isn't.
Furthermore, when installing it:
it says it's installing an "Intel Turbo Boost Technology Driver".

It's not Intel GPU only. It's switchable. Apparently, only nVidia (Optimus) is working.
Would Intel not working even cause this, though?
