Hi

I have a T420 with the Ericsson F5521gw broadband adapter in it.  I put a Vodafone SIM in it, but it failed to find the service provider.

I then installed "ThinkPad Mobile Broadband" to attempt to activate my SIM.  This resulted in the "Please install Mobile BroadBand Connect to continue" error.

I've removed the Thinkpad mobile Broadband software again, but still get the error asking me to install mobile broadband connect.

Questions:

Where to I download Mobile Broadnand Connect from?

How do I activate a Vodafone SIM in my ThinkPad for the purpose of mobile broadband?

(After installing this one i didn't have any issues where it still ask me to install mobile broadband connect)

I don't know much about Vodaphone, but if you do not have subscription that include data and the use of mobile broadband you need to contact the provider. I don't know if there are any special steps to make it work with Vodaphone or just like any other provider. Maybe someone else can fill in here.

Edit: Seems like Lenovo Mobile Broadband softwar do not support the Ericsson F5521gw adapter so won't be of any help to install this software in your case.

I downloaded the latest version of the mobile broadband software (which stated compliance with the F5521gw), but I still get the same error.

Any ideas how to clear it?

This is the software for the f5521gw I downloaded - it looks like it may just be the driver.

Where can I get the actual "Mobile Broadband Connect" software that works with the f5521gw?

I don't think there is any Lenovo Mobile broadband connect that support f5521gw. The latest version support F3507g and F3607gw, but not f5521gw. Another member said he had to install Access Connection to make it work. I don't know if you have to keep AC or if possible to uninstall after to manage to get it working.

It's the "ThinkVantage Access Connections for Windows 7".  I've already installed this and still get the error unfortunately.

Rather irritating that Lenovo sell something that without software to drive it.

I got a W520 with the same F5521gw and had no problem at all even if i did a clean install.

Sounds like this problem is related to your sim card and not the Lenovo software. I agree i would be nice if the mobile broadband software would work with the F5521gw so you could activate just by using your computer, but i would suggest that you call the provider and ask for them to help with the activation.
