Re: F1 key doesn't work at startup

When I power-on, the F1 key doesn't bring me into the BIOS but goes directly to my power-on password. I tried holding down the Fn key at the same time (as I read in another post), but that doesn't work either. The splash screen is very fast, so I even tried hitting the ON button while holding down F1, but no go. I need to change my power-on password but dont' know how to get to it. Can anyone help?

Re: F1 key doesn't work at startup

When you shutdown, you can press and hold the shift key.  That does a full shutdown.

Also, you can press and hold the power button at the power-on password prompt.  That will give you more time to hit F1.

Also, you can go to settings\recovery\advanced startup to get to "change UEFI settings"

In any case, the first prompt will be for the POP.  If you don't know thw POP, you can hit enter and at the 2nd prompt, enter the BIOS (supervisor) password

F1 key doesn't work at startup

Re: F1 key doesn't work at startup

I just noticed that the flash screen at power-on says "To interrupt normal press Enter." This doesn't do anything either.

Re: F1 key doesn't work at startup

Disabling Fast Startup worked for me.

Re: F1 key doesn't work at startup

Thanks. I used the option inside of Windows and it worked just fine. The "fast startup" idea was no help, since my problem begins before Windows.

Re: F1 key doesn't work at startup

You are missing the point about fast startup.  Fast startup makes it so the system doesn't completely shutdown (unless you hold the shift key).
