I have a T400 with Windows Vista that I bought just over a year ago. A few days ago, the laptop screen started to flash intermittently--the whole display flashes like it's hiccuping. Initially, it would stop flashing if I turned it off, let it cool down, and then turned it on again. However, today, even after I let it cool down for a few hours and turned it on again, it started flashing right away.
The flashing occurs even as I'm starting up the computer, and it occurs fairly regularly, about every 4 seconds. It occurs both when I have my AC adapter plugged in and when I'm running on just the battery. I updated the BIOS files and installed the most updated display-related drivers. Is there anything else I can do to fix this issue?
Thanks in advance for any help!

what GPU does your T400 uses? also what tempertaure is your GPU running at? use TPfancontrol.

My T400 has an AMD M82XT Hybrid 256MB. I'm not sure what temperature the GPU is running at--sorry, I'm not very tech savvy!
Today, after having been off more than 12 hours, my computer is okay and does not have the flashing display. Does this mean that the flashing was only because of the temperature? The weather here has gotten much warmer these past few days, so I wonder if it's just because of that. Thank you!

download Tpfancontrol and check the temperature of the CPU and GPU.
Also, download Prime95 and run it.
Does anything happens.
Also, does this flashing behaviour occur with the Intel GPU mode? you can switch the GPU through power manager.

what is your ram configuration? did you do any updates recently in terms of driver or bios firmware?
