Frustrated with FAN noise - T430

My T430 runs at about 41-45oC with normal operations. BUT THE FAN IS ALWAYS ON.

I have been following a few threads and done a bunch of online searchers, but I can't fix the fan speed. Speedfan does not reconize my fans.

I would like to set it that my fan either does not turn on until 50oC or to lower the fan speed.

Any suggestions?

I run Windows 7. T430 with i5-3360.

Re: Frustrated with FAN noise - T430

Hello Welchgc,

Its never fun to be un-happy with a computer, can you try to down load this driver.

Let me know if works, I was able to get it to work on my T430 and was hoping we could get it working for you.

Best Regards,

Hiro

Re: Frustrated with FAN noise - T430

Hey there welchgc,

There have been a few conversations about fan speed/temperatures on the forum, this being the most recent and active: T430 Fan speed

There are a lot of smart folks contributing to that thread and some useful infomation.

Re: Frustrated with FAN noise - T430

Thanks,

The information on the thread 'T430 Fan Speed' seems to foucs on Linux OS.

I installed the driver, am I to expect anything or have access to change the fan speeds?

Re: Frustrated with FAN noise - T430

Hey Welchgc,

Yes if the driver installed right you should be able to control the fan speeds now.

Best Regards,

Hiro

Re: Frustrated with FAN noise - T430

I have no idea why others keep complaining about the fan. On mine the fan noise isn't hearable even when I use the NVIDIA GPU when temperature rise high. Is it possible that my fan isn't actually running properly?

Re: Frustrated with FAN noise - T430

I assume they are complaining because there is a problem with their T430. I have yet to hear if this fan noise problem affects ALL t430 or just some...or if it's just a matter of user tolerance. My tolerance for noise is pretty low, so this would be a concern for me IF I were to buy a T430.
