2015-09-21, 15:28 PM

Hi,

There are two antenna wires in T440P, but three connectors on the card:

1. MAIN

2. GPS

3. AUX

It is clear that one wire goes to MAIN, but where goes the secondwire?

As per installation diagramme you can do both???

But what is the difference?

thnaks for support !

Hi

Plug the red antenna cable into the jack labeled MAIN on the card, and the blue cable into the jack labeled AUX. Jack labeled GPS is for the active (!) GPS antenna, laptop hasn't it. That jack might have a voltage (depending on the internal settings), so If you'll connect any regular antenna cable, modem will be broken because of short circuit.

Let me ask you: is you location Georgia in the reality? Where are you planing to use em7355 and what types of networks?

Thanks for clarification.

I'm really situated in Georgia and happily use EM7355 (for over one year now) with both local GSM operators (MAGTI and GEOCELL). It uses currently HSPA protocol, but so far I was unable to connect with LTE (it is fairly new in this country).

The whole story behind my question was following: If I turn off both wi-fi and GSM connections will the EM7355 GPS sensor work as standalone locator?

or

it still needs celular connection?

Unfortunately, you are right - em7355 has a very limited usage in the Georgia' mobile broadband networks. Despite it supports 6 LTE frequency bands, it can't operate in the Georgian LTE networks as they operate in another bands.

Location sensors are capable to work w/o mobile broadband or wifi connection. Alternate network connection might help after GPS device cold start, after receiver being powered off for a long time - for faster loading orbital data or almanac for the GPS satellites to the GPS receiver, enabling the GPS receiver to lock to the satellites more rapidly.

It's a special mode - A-GPS, or another name with some features, GPS XTRA. Not every location application supports that mode.

Is there any windows based software which could use this standalone GPS sensor?
Thanks

The answer depends on the OS installed and your demands.

1. The simplest modern location apps, especially widgets, use location sensor, not a virtual GPS com port with NMEA data. Moreover, win8/10 drivers for wwan cards don't have that ports opened, by default. So, apps use location sensor and Windows location platform.

2. more complicated apps like SASPlanet or OziExplorer use NMEA port, mainly. Usually, such applications have a lot of settings for the GPS receiver, are able to manage it.

3. I think you have to visit some GPS navigation forums to read about applications, for example, laptopgpsworld.com.
