Hard drive for t430

2017-11-30, 20:44 PM

Is there a caddy for adding a 2nd hardrive to thinkpad t430?, I need to get an ssd of 500 gig at least and apparently one takes out the DVD player and caddy’s in the drive

There are many aftermarket ones available for the T430 for varying prices, of which a few examples are linked below.

Make sure that you get one for the T430 and not the T430s, because they are different.

Another option is an mSATA drive in the WWAN slot, assuming you aren't using WWAN.  You would need format 2242

The caddy (officially known as an Ultrabay adapter) for T430 models is 12.5mm high. The one for T430s models is 9.5mm high.

Both caddies accept HDD and SSD drives that are either 7mm or 9.5mm thick (but not older drives that are 12.5mm thick.)

Yes, I also find this confusing ;)

Richard,

"2242" means m.2 drive while T430 doesn't support it. PCIe mini, 30x51 mm
