How to deal with the license of Windows 10 in Virtual Machine hosted by Ubuntu?

2016-09-30, 17:56 PM

Hi,

I am planning to buy thinkpad T460S, http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/t-series/t460s/. Looks like the Windows 10 is pre-installed and no license key is bundled. By going through the old threads I found the license key is embedded in BIOS (please correct me if I am wrong). Whereas I am planning to use Ubuntu as host operating system and then reinstall Windows 10 in KVM as guest operating system. I am wondering how to reach my target? If it is not possible, can you sell a notebook without operating system or refund the operating system fee from the bundle price?

Thanks,

Robert
