How to enable bitlocker on WIndows 10 at Thinkpad T460

2018-03-25, 8:45 AM

Dear Gents,

I have tried to enable bitlocker as per guide at link https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-bitlocker-encryption-windows-10

I clicked wizard and enabled bitlocker on my system partition. There was no prompt to put my desired password, just reboot. My question is what password is used for bitlocker encryption and login? My windows logon one? Also another issue with TPM chip. I have version 1.2. I was required reset it what I did. Still I am surprised by what password is used during bitlocker encryption?

Many thanks

Regards

Andy

BitLocker doesn't use any password by default.  It just uses the TPM.  You can optionally add a PIN to BitLocker.  This link might answer your questions:  https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/mvpawardprogram/2016/01/12/securing-windows-10-with-bitlocker-drive-encryption/
