How to install a SIM in ThinkPad T530

2017-10-08, 18:17 PM

I have a problem with my ThinkPad T530 model 2429NL6, on which Win 10 is running.
I purchased a data SIM card and inserted it into the SIM card slot, but I can't connect to the data network.
I can't understand if the modem is missing, if the modem is present but the driver is missing, or if it's a problem installing the network in Win 10.
How can I move around?
(I ask for a simple language in the answer, as I am an inexperienced user)

Thanks

Hello and welcome to the Community

There wasn't wwan modem installed in the factory configuration of the T530 MTM 2429NL6. So, you don't see anything wwan device related in the OS network settings. You might purchase and install compatible (Lenovo approved for this laptop) wwan modem yourself. 3g modems are very cheap.

Hi chic and welcome to the Community,

The first thing you do is see if you have a WWAN card installed.  Go into Device Manager under Network Adapters and you should have something like Mobile Broadband Driver.  Open that and it should tell you what card you have.

If you don't have any listing there for anything like that, then you would have to install a Mobile Broadband card. This thread explains it a bit better.

The listing in Device Manager will look something like this:

Regards,

Dave

Compatible modems are:
Sierra mc8355 (aka Gobi 3000), Lenovo service p/n (FRU) 60Y3257
Ericsson H5321w, FRU 60Y3297

Gobi 2000 isn't compatible with T530.

Hi there, SHANGO!

Welcome to the Lenovo forum!

You can go to the Lenovo Support website https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/?CID=ww:lenovosocial:20x9m6 (type the serial number and go to the Drivers & Software tab) and download the driver that you are looking for.

Regards,
