I have installed an m.2 ssd on my T440 as my boot drive and was just hoping to make my 2.5 HDD sleep or hibernate until i need to search it for files so i can save battery life. I can do all the work i need on the ssd until the time i need to access data from the HDD. Is that possible?
I also have an x230 and just ordered an msata ssd for it and would like to do the same thing to it as the x230 really eats a lot of juice.
I run windows 10 on both machines. Hope you can help me out.
Hope to hear from you guys. Thank you.

You can check the settings on your current Power plan by opening the Control Panel > Power Options. On your current Power Plan click on change plan settings, choose Advance and look for hard drive. There is an option for it to turn off/sleep.
