Intel 5350 Wifi driver update

2012-12-30, 0:27 AM

Hi,

I installed the latest driver version 14.3 ( 14.2.0.10 ) available at Lenovo site on my T400 running Vista 64 SP2

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-72858

However the driver version seen in the 5350 adapter properties still show old version i.e. 13.04.000 (13.4.0.139 )

I tried to update the driver from the adapter properties but it says your system has latest driver.

I tried re-install but didn't help

Any idea what could be the problem and how to fix it?

Thanks

Hey there samurai123,

Have you tried to uninstall the driver, download the driver to your desktop, and install it manually? Sometimes I find that this works when the version number does not update. Look forward to hearing back from you, Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion.

I un-installed the device/driver first and manual install it but the it still shows the old version. Ran Intel Wifi manual diagnostics which shows "Driver is loaded. NETwLv64 Version: 13.4.0.139"

Hey there samurai123,

The version for you LAN card should be: 13.04.0000 because you have the Intel WiFi Link 5150. I discovered this when looking at details for the cards support on the driver page.

The version 14.03.0000 that you are referencing is for other LAN cards that may have been available for your device. Those cards are:

So you actually do have the most up to date driver for your card if you use this driver page, the 13.04.0000. Hope this clears it up for you! Thank you samurai123.

Hey there samurai123,

I notice in the previous version of the driver this information is listed:

[Important] For the following devices, "Intel      Wireless LAN (11abgn, abg, bg)" version 14.00.1000 or higher is available      for upgrade. (Still this version continues to support the devices.)

  • Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000
  • Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200
  • Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300
  • Intel PRO/Wireless 3945BG Network Connection
  • Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection
  • Intel WiFi Link 1000
  • Intel WiFi Link 5350
  • Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AG
  • Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN

Have you tried this? It takes us to a driver that lists the end of support for your 5350 in Vista. It may be an option to consider trying to see if it will "update" to the correct version. From other notes I see that 13.4.0.139 still provides working support to the card, and I'm unsure if that it could be reason. Sorry I could not have been of more help.

Intel seems to have one more driver update for 5350 which was 15.3.1 for Win7

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000006024.html

I couldn't find this version on the Lenovo support site for 5350. sigh...

Maybe Lenovo never released it?
