Keyboard problem with T410

Hi,

For your information:

for the last 4 month I own a T410. The notebook was delivered with pre-installed win7. Currently it is running additionally Debian Squeeze in dual boot.

The problem:

In the last days I experierenced strange  behavior of the integrated keyboard. The keys e d and c seem to fire the wrong events. e for example raises the volume, d mutes. First the problem occured sporadic, so I though it is caused by dirt or something similar, but currently it is not possible to work at the laptop without an external keyboad (which works fine). I think a wrong configuration of the keyboard layout can be dropped, because the behavior is on both systems. Maybe some else experienced this behavior and can help me? I need the laptop for my studies - so given it to maintanance is the worst-case solution.

With regards from Germany

Akaya

I'm sorry, but you'll have to go thorough worst case scenario as it appears Smiley Sad

Keep us posted though.

Re: Keyboard problem with T410

I'm having a problem with the "G" key on my keyboard. It works, but I have to press a lot harder than I do for all the other keys to get it to work. Any idea what's causing this problem and how I can fix it?

Re: Keyboard problem with T410

Hi cney0423,

There could be some material stuck under it. You can take off the keycap using your finger nails (the longer the better useful they would be), and put it back again, however be careful as you don't want to break the innards of the key.

If you can't do above, you can get replacement from lenovo as long as you're under warranty. Keyboard reinstallation can be found at following links:-

Hope this helps.
