Hello Everybody,
I own a Thinkad T420 (model 4236NGG) and I currently have the original RAM installed (Samsung DDR3-1333, PC3-10600, 4Gb) and would like to add an extra 4 Gb to it with the following specs: Nanya Technology DDR3-1600, PC3-12800, 4Gb.
Would this configuration (DDR3-1333 PC3-10600 and DDR3-1600 PC3-12800) work without damaging my T420 or is this something not to do ?
Thanks for your feed back !
Cheers,
Nicolas

Welcome to the forum!
It should work without issues (as long as the RAM is ok). The PC3-12800 module you want to buy will run at PC3-10600 speed, but you most probably won't notice.

The laptop should automatically configure to run at the speed of the lowest specification ram module.
HOWEVER, thinkpads can be quite picky over their modules (corsair for instance) so if possible always best performance wise to have two equally matched ram sticks
