Lenovo T420 remove BLACKLIST WIFI CARD??

Hello!

I just bought a Lenovo T420 without a WIFI -Card,

Is there any way to remove this so i can use a 6235 Intel card instead of the 6205 which was in it originally?

Re: Lenovo T420 remove BLACKLIST WIFI CARD??

Welcome to the Lenovo Community!

Actually, it's not a blacklist, but a whitelist.

Anyway, I suggest flashing this modified BIOS version: https://www.sendspace.com/file/0whb9r

In addition to the removed whitelist, it has several other advantages over the original BIOS.

Re: Lenovo T420 remove BLACKLIST WIFI CARD??

To flash the modified BIOS, you have to run "WINUPTP.EXE". Select 'Update ThinkPad BIOS' and follow the instructions on the screen. After the update has been completed, the program shows a message 'Flash Update has been successfully completed...'. Follow the instructions on the screen to restart the computer.

Please note:
  • This BIOS version has been modified by third parties. It's not provided by Lenovo.
  • Flashing a modified BIOS might brick your machine.
  • You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack.
  • Make sure the AC adapter is firmly connected to the computer.
  • Do not turn off or suspend the computer until the update has been completed. IF YOU DO THAT WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL IN PROGRESS, THE SYSTEM BOARD MAY HAVE TO BE REPLACED.

Re: Lenovo T420 remove BLACKLIST WIFI CARD??

Do you know where I can get a modified BIOS v1.49?

Another user requested this bios on biosmods.com in November but nobody has replied.

Thanks
