Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I’m sorry to hear that your Lenovo ThinkPad T430 is not powering on.

Check if it's something to do with your AC adapter or battery. Insufficient power might cause some of those issues as well. Take the battery out and try to power on your laptop with the charger only. Make sure your laptop power jack and charger plug tip are securely connected. Try starting the laptop using good known AC adapter and battery.

Try connecting the device to an external monitor and check if it displays properly.

Please do let me know the happenings!

Best regards,

Mithun.

Hi Mithun,

Thanks for your reply.

I've tried opening it using the fully charged battery, with only AC adaptor "which is the original one" and with both but nothing happened, just the power button is lightened, nothing else, even I've tried the funtion keys but nothing. I've attached a photo showing the laptop's state after pressing the power button. So if you could please advise as this laptop has very important projects with specific software installed with special configuration and it would take a very long time to reconfigure so I hope we could find a fix for this please.

Many Thanks Mithun for your kind assistacne and support.photo.JPG

Hi,

If you have confirmed the functionality of the battery and adapter, try to take out the memory and see if system produces beep sounds. If it doesn’t it could possibly be a motherboard issue.

In that case, I strongly recommend you to contact our technical support for assistance.

Click here to open a link where you can select the country and get the exact contact support number. I’m sure they will be a great help.

Best Regards,

Mithun.

Do you mean remove the memory and try to power on the laptop without them? Sorry I'm a bit confused of what exactly I should do.

Many Thanks Mithun and waiting for your reply

Hi,

You are right. Remove the memory and try to power on the system and check if you can hear any beep sounds. Let me know the beep pattern if you get any.

Best regards,

Mithun.

Hi,

It sounds like a system board failure.:smileysad:

Hope that your system is still under warranty. Contacting support to get the issue fixed is what I would recommend here.

Regards,

Mithun.

:smileysad: this is really bad, I can't believe it or even imagine :smileysad:

Ok, if its a motherboard issue then is it possible to change it without deleteing or installing new windows? as all my word was in the "downloads" folder in "my documents" on the C drive, and I don't know and really scared if I won't be able to retrieve it as I don't have any backup.

Many Thanks again

Hi,

Changing a motherboard doesn’t need a Windows reinstallation ideally. There are very rare chances for the Windows to not boot up and there could be chances of driver conflicts as well. In normal, the drivers would be automatically detected and installed. If it doesn’t boot up, the data in your HDD is always safe. You can always take a backup by swapping HDD into some other similar system or with the help of a 3rd party technician.

Best regards,

Mithun.
