Lenovo T460 EM7455 not working - 1802 error

Hello guys,

I've bought a new wwan card Sierra EM7455 but when I connect it to my laptop i got "1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in" error. Could you help me to fix this?

Re: Lenovo T460 EM7455 not working - 1802 error

Welcome to the Community

Are there symbols at the end of the string with 1802 error, 2 groups of 4 symbols, via slash? Like 1199/9078.

Do you have a photo of the modem' labels?

Provide the information, please.

Yes, there is "(413C/901F)" at the end of the error message.

that's an answer for a cause of issue. Since Lenovo laptops have a white list of wireless devices in the BIOS (at least for wwan cards in the last generations of laptops), only approved cards will work. Every wwan card has specific USB hardware IDs (for vendor and device), depending on the modem and laptop vendor.

But your case is more specific. The card you have is from an aftermarket. The information on the label looks correct, it's an em7455 card for Lenovo, FRU 00JT547, marketing p/n SW10H24567. This card should have Ven_1199&Dev_9079 IDs.
Your card: Ven_413C means Dell branded card, Dev_901F means another modem, Sierra em7355 for Lenovo. It's absolutely different modem, on another platform. Moreover, the combibation 413C:901F doesn't exist in the reality, there isn't modem with these IDs.

It means some one tried to fit Lenovo branded modem in Dell laptop (it has white list either) and changed modem' IDs to avoid white list but made an error with PID ID. As result, he has refused to use this modem and sold it.

So, this modem in its current state wil not work in Lenovo laptop. You might return the modem to the seller. Another way is to perform some efforts to correct modem IDs., and, probably, to correct some modem settings using AT commands via terminall access. It'll need some skills from you even with instructions here (it's impossible to provide detailed instructions without direct access to the laptop with modem installed). Also you'll need another laptop with m.2 wwan slot without white list restrictions or wwan m.2 to USB adapter or get a risk and fit the modem into the T460 while it's in the sleep mode to perform the actions with modem.
