Lenovo T480 - Thunderbolt 3 Dock Issues

We are currently using Lenovo T480 laptops with ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Docks (Model 40AC0135US) in our office and frequently encounter the following issues:

 

• When a user connects their T480 to the dock, their monitors do not display any video
• When a user connects their T480 to their dock, their monitors will display video, but USB peripherals (keyboard, mouse) do not work
• When disconnecting from a dock, the charging light on the T480 stays lit and Windows shows the laptop is still connected to power and charging
• External displays blinking / flickering intermittently

 

When a user experience issues with their dock, the only way to get things working again is to shut down the computer, disable the internal battery in the BIOS, and then plug the T480 into the dock and turn it on. However, the issue eventually returns and we have to repeat the steps again.

 

We have also tried the following steps, but continue to see issues:


• Run Lenovo System Update and install all driver, bios, and dock firmware updates
• Replaced Thunderbolt cable
• Change the Thunderbolt Security Level in bios to No Security and Uninstall Thunderbolt Software

 

Most of our laptops are running Windows 10 1709. Has anyone else experienced these issues and know of a good solution?
