Lenovo T480s does not project to Dell 2790W

Hello!

I have an issue with my work laptop (T480s) not projecting onto an external Dell 2709W monitor. I connect the two with a HDMI cable and the monitor goes to Sleep Mode (it doesn't say "No HDMI signal" or anything like that).

Additional infos:

  • I have tested the monitor with my home computer and it works flawlessly (with the same cable as above).
  • The HDMI cable I'm using is brand new.
  • The laptop works well when connected to a [newer] Dell monitor at work.

Any ideas what else I could try?

Thanks

Jernej

Hi Codium,

Welcome to the community forums.

Try updating the display driver and BIOS. You may download the updates here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/. Update us how it goes.

Thanks!

Hi, I've checked my drivers over and over again. I uninstalled/reinstalled.... I tried doing that on my monitor as well (also resetting to the factory settings). Nothing helped really.

Another hand here to help.

Check the resolution from the computer and set it to 1920x1200. Also check the frequency as the Dell2709W is set to work on 59hz - 79hz. Let us know on how it goes.

Regards,

Re: Lenovo T480s does not project to Dell 2790W

Hi guys.

Thank you for all of your suggestions. It looks like I have not described this in enough detail. This is how my Display settings pane looks like:

I cannot set anything for my external monitor because the laptop does not even detect it. Smiley Sad

Cheers,
Jernej
