Hiya guys,

I've recently bought a Lenovo Thinkpad T470, and all works fine. What I would like to know, If I can upgrade that Notebook with an hdd drive beside a 512 GB Solid State Drive, PCIe-NVMe OPAL2.0.

thanks

Re: Lenovo Thinkpad T470 upgrade HDD

Hi lancs,

Warm Greetings & welcome to Lenovo Community, happy to have you here.

No, HDD and SSD simultaneously is not possible in T470 as there is only one HDD slot or one M.2 2280 slot exclusively for storage.

I hope the above information helped you.

Please feel free to post in Lenovo Community Forums if you have any further queries!

Regards,
Prabhansh

Re: Lenovo Thinkpad T470 upgrade HDD

Hi,

I can't speak from experience but it looks like the main drive slot is either a 2280 SSD or a 2.5 inch HDD so you can't add an HDD. It does appear to be possible to add a 2242 m.2 SATA SSD in the WWAN slot if it is empty.

http://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/ThinkPad/ThinkPad%20T470/ThinkPad_T470_Platform_Specificatio...

Some: HDD / SATA 6.0Gb/s, 2.5" wide, 7mm high, Active Protection System
Some: SSD / SATA 6.0Gb/s, 2.5" wide, 7mm high (e.g. xxxGB SSD)
Some: M.2 SSD / PCIe NVMe, PCIe 3.0 x 2, 16Gb/s
Some: 128GB M.2 SSD / SATA 6.0Gb/s, in WWAN slot as 2nd Storage,
mutually exclusive with WWAN and WiGig

FWIW,

Z.
