Lenovo Thinkpad T510 Battery?

2011-07-16, 22:34 PM

I recently (about 2 months ago) purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad T510 laptop. Ever since I got it, I have the brightness on 50%, and only use it to surf the internet. My battery life is 2:50 at the maximum.

I have a warrenty for the laptop, could I call in and get another battery for free?

It is quite inconvienent to have to charge and recharge at least twice every day. It makes portability almost impossible.

Re: Lenovo T510 55++ 9 cell battery question?

1) You should be able to get 6-7 hours out of the 9-cell under these conditions.

2) You just need a 55++ battery.

3) Yes; less an inch or so. You can find pictures on the internet.

Also, the battery came installed in my laptop. I took it out and it says it is a Li-Ion00 55+ battery.

It says my battery condition is good. But somehow I think that only having a maximum of 2:50 battery time is not good.

Do you have discrete graphics? If so, it sounds about right for an untweaked system. There are a few tricks to battery life optimization with the NVidia GPU involving PowerMizer.

http://somemorebytes.com/wp/index.php/software/nvpmmanager/
Enable PowerMizer, and use Max power save on battery.

Also put your CPU into the lowest speed in Power Manager's advanced mode (battery only; AC should be adaptive).

Also, defrag.

Make sure you are using the "Power Source Optimized" profile, it sounds like you are using high performance. You should also tweak your power settings in Power Manager. My T510 with the 55+ (9-Cell) battery gets around 6 hours. Also, switch to 'Advanced' mode in Power Manager, click Battery and select Battery Maintenance and reset the gauge. This will calibrate your battery.

2:50 is about right for a 1 year old 6 cell.

I just noticed that the 9-Cell is the 55++ and not the 55+, my mistake above.

Lenovo T510 55++ 9 cell battery question?

2011-07-20, 13:45 PM

As of right now, I have a 55+ 6 cell battery in my Lenovo Thinkpad T510. I want to upgrade to a 55++ 9 cell battery because I'm only getting about 2:50 out of my 6 cell (even though it is only 2 months old).

1) If I am going to be browsing the web and using microsoft word, how long would the 9 cell battery last?

2) Is there a certain specific model number I have to get specifically for my laptop, or would any 9 cell battery adaptable for the Thinkpad T510 work?

3) does the 9 cell battery stick out the back of the laptop?

Thank you so much.
