Linux drivers for Thinkpad T495 graphic

2019-07-30, 18:59 PM

Hi!
I bought a Lenovo Thinkpad T495 recently. I installed Ubuntu 18 next to Windows 10.
When I connect a second HDMI monitor it is not detected. I have tried to install the drivers from official website but it doesn’t work for me.

I have installed Ubuntu 18.04 with kernel 4.18.0-25-generic.
The processor is AMD Ryzen 5 pro 3500u w/ radeon vega mobile gfx × 8
And the video: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Picasso (rev d2)

lopezziur@lopezziur:~$ inxi -G
Graphics:  Card: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD/ATI] Picasso
           Display Server: x11 (X.Org 1.20.4 ) drivers: fbdev,ati (unloaded: modesetting,vesa,radeon)
           Resolution: 1920x1080@77.00hz
OpenGL: renderer: llvmpipe (LLVM 8.0, 128 bits) version: 3.3 Mesa 19.0.2

Also, when I run the xrandr command I get the following error:

lopezziur@lopezziur:~$ xrandr
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
Screen 0: minimum 1920 x 1080, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 1920 x 1080
default connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 0mm x 0mm
   1920x1080     77.00*

Can anyone recommend a solution to this issue?

Regards,
Eva

Hi!

I have solved it following this post's tips.
I have update Kernel version from 4.18 to 5.0.0.

HI, If you are running Ubuntu 18.04 you should be on 18.04.4 which is kernel 5.3

If you accidently installed the server version of Ubuntu, it won't automatically do this for you. If you installed the desktop version, it should automatically have updated.

You should review
