Media Test Failure

This afternoon, I was working on my laptop when suddenly it forze up and when I restarted, it began displaying the message "Media Test Failure, check cable". I've been to several different places looking for solutions; I've tried System Repair, I've tried System Restore, I tried changing the boot priority, I tired disabling booting from LAN, and nothing has worked. What can I do now? What could be the problem?

Re: Media Test Failure

How would I reseat the hard drive? Would that require opening the back because I don't have the tools for that

Re: Media Test Failure

Which Thinkpad do you have? It should be a single screw for most older ones.

Re: Media Test Failure

I'm not sure what kind it is; but on the back there seem to be multiple screws

Re: Media Test Failure

What do you see printed near the right hinge on the LCD bezel?

Also, look on the bottom of your machine for a black and white sticker, possibly. If you find one, what is the 7 character machine type-model number? It may look like: 2623-DDU, or for the newest machines it could be 10 characters. Please don't post your serial number.

Regards.
