My T410i hard drive died, I have Windows 7 Home Basic OA key, but how to install on new hard drive?
I had to replace the hard drive, I realise from the help pages I should have written down the error messages before replacing...
Either way I am unsure how to obtain the Windows 7 Home Basic software to re-install.
I have the key, where should I go - the microsoft site says it came pre-installed so I need to contact the supplier - Lenovo, but on the product list T410i is too old and not listed.
Thanks in advance for you time.

You can try to call Lenovo support and see if you can buy a set of recovery disks, but installing windows 7 is not simple. Windows update's interface to win 7 hasn't been maintained. Also, I don't know if Lenovo is maintaining images for machines of that age. If you were ever going to upgrade to windows 10, this might be the time. I have not tried it, but I have read that Microsoft has stopped charging for the win10 upgrade if you have a win 7 key in the BIOS. (You do) You can download an DVD image or a USB stick for win 10 home 64 bit at this location:

Thanks, thats a great suggestion.
I’ll try it and post my progress.
I had actually upgraded for free to windows 10, but assumed I’d have to go with 7 at first as that’s the one the key on the license sticker is for.

The MS activation servers should remember that you had previously activated Win 10. Should happen automatically now if you just install the same Win 10 version.
