My finger print reader has stopped working (T460)

The finger print reader on my T460 has stopped working.

I've been searching online all day for a solution, but so far without success Smiley Sad

Under Account Sign In options there is no option to turn on the Finger Print sign in.

Under Device Manager>Biometrics, when I right-click on the driver (Synaptics FP Sensors>Properties), it says that the hardware device is not connected.

(NB I cannot see "biometrics" in device manager unless i view "hidden files").

It's driving me mad! can anyone help???

Try this:

1.  reboot and press F1 to enter BIOS setup

2.  change to Security -> Fingerprint menu

3.  choose the option about "Reset Fingerprint Data"... what happens?

I've checked the BIOS and it says that there is no finger print reader detected, so I think this must be a hardware fault Smiley Sad

Re: My finger print reader has stopped working (T460)

Yes, it is definitely a hardware problem if BIOS says there isn't any reader connected.  It may be the cable connecting the fingerprint reader to the motherboard has come loose, or the fingerprint reader itself may have a problem.
