I see a lot of T400-T500 users asking how to upgrade graphics card and being told that the card is integrated to the motherboard and cannot be replaced. Most answers stop there leading one to believe either you can’t use whatever software requires more GB or you must get a new computer all together. I did see a brief mention of external graphics cards, something about a graphics card having to do with a docking station, and something about a virtual graphics card.
Are any of these an option for someone who has a ThinkPad 400-500? If so, could we get some more specific detail on what can be used please?
If none of these are an option – are there any ThinkPads that have at least 2GB dedicated video cards?
Thank you in advance for any help.
My specs: (including a question about my video card – 1 place shows 2GB, another shows only 1696MB with system video memory being 0. Is this right?)

If you want a T series Thinkpad, you are probably better off going with a dedicated video card in something like the T470p which comes with the NVIDIA® GeForce® 940MX 2 GB with 2GB of dedicated DDR5 memory.
Another Thinkpad to consider is the P series, as most come with Nvida Quadro M520 with 2GB of DDR5 as well.
See http://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/c/thinkpad for more details.
