No more FireWire on T430?

Hello all. Does anyone have an idea why there is no more a FireWire interface on the T430 thinkpads? Is the interface dead so that Lenovo does not put it there anymore? Or is my T430 some kind of low-end series and others have it?

thanks for your answers and thoughts about it

Re: No more FireWire on T430?

Not lot of people use firewire anymore, and it is slowly phased out. Firewire was optional on the T420, and most machines were shipped without firewire. Maybe due to the low demand, Lenovo decided it was just not worth it to have it on the machine anymore.

Re: No more FireWire on T430?

Thanks for your answer Smiley Wink

Unfortunately I have an older MiniDV videocamera and its USB supports only transfer of pictures, not the movie. The manufacturer does not provide any driver... So will have to use friend's T400 with firwire to download the recorded vdeo from it..

well, world's changing, we have to enbrace it or we'll be left behind
