I want to create a system repair disk from the system backup partition on my Thinkpad T410. I've got a couple of problems.
On one hand, Microsoft's Create Windows Recovery Disc utility (I assume) works only from Microsoft's Windows ISO file, not from Lenovo's backup partition. On the other hand, Lenovo's Create Windows Repair Media program appears to write only thumb drives, not DVDs.
Without going into details, this is both a concern and a practical problem. I expected to, and want to, create a repair disk (or disc), not a thumb drive.
Is there a way to create a DVD instead of a "media" from the backup partition?
If not, I'm considering downloading Microsoft's Windows 7 image and burning a repair disk from that. But I think this is a poor solution because Lenovo has included drivers and utilities into the system backup partition that the Microsoft Windows image will not have. But I can't find information about what I'll miss if I use Microsoft's image instead of Lenovo's, and what (if anything) I could do to obtain the missing material.
Can anyone help dispel the confusion?
