Plug ID

I am looking to verify what a certain plug-in is on the side of my computer.  I have a T500 and there is a port on the left side that I cannot identify.  It is located next to the phone connection to the internet.  It has what looks to be either a P or a D located above the port.  I would appreciate if someone could tell me what this is.  Thanks!

Re: Plug ID

welcome to the forum.

that's the displayport connector.   the icon should look like a 'P' inside of a 'D'.

Re: Plug ID

What can I use this plug for and what kind of cable hooks into it?

Re: Plug ID

it's the new standard for digital video connections, replacing DVI.   like HDMI, it carries both a video and audio signal but improves upon this and carries more bandwidth to handle larger displays.   it's backwards-compatible with both DVI and HDMI.

check out displayport.org and wikipedia for more info.
