Power Manager error in Server 2008

Dear Lenovo Community,

I've recently purchased an Thinkpad T400. I did a clean install and put Windows Server 2008 64-bit OS on the computer. I installed the Power Manager and got an application error.

I download the install from this url:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67216

The application was installed to the program files(x86) folder. Please advise.

Below is the error log.

Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name:    APPCRASH
  Application Name:    PWMUI.EXE
  Application Version:    1.0.0.0
  Application Timestamp:    488e79a5
  Fault Module Name:    KERNEL32.dll
  Fault Module Version:    6.0.6001.18000
  Fault Module Timestamp:    4791a81d
  Exception Code:    e0434f4d
  Exception Offset:    0002f35f
  OS Version:    6.0.6001.2.1.0.274.10

Re: Power Manager error in Server 2008

I'm having a similar issue.  I cant get Power Manager to work at all with Server 2008 x64.  The driver is not compatible.  Maybe an update soon?

Re: Power Manager error in Server 2008

The following could be usefull.

The ThinkPad T400 and W500 can be ordered with “switchable” graphics.
The only way to make the switch is to install the Power Management
Utility. Since this utility uses the .NET frameworks, care must be
taken to install the Lenovo drivers and software in the correct order,
or at least you need to make sure all of the prerequisites are
installed unless you want to see the Power Management utility appcrash. Since Windows Server 2008 does not have those prereqs installed by default, you will need to do that. It’s covered in a couple of minutes in the instructions below.

Please report back.

P.S.: I'm using 32-bit version of WS2008. Installing .net 3.0 solved the problem.

Re: Power Manager error in Server 2008

I'm using Windows Server 2008 64 bit (x64) with .NET 3.0 feature enabled and .NET 3.5 installed.  Still having the issue.

Re: Power Manager error in Server 2008
