2019-09-26, 21:27 PM

I bought second hand a T440 with touch ( not S series ) and i am wondewring if can i replace that touch panel with a non trouch panel ? I know its possible with non touch and non trouch but not sure about touch with non touch.

That screen is really crappy and dont know why the original replacement screen cost around 250USD on Amazon.

It is only reasonable if you can find an entire assembly.  The bezel, lid, cable and hinges are all different

In the video both screens are non-touch.  As I said, the bezel, hinges, lid and cable all are different on touch screens.  All the non-touch are 30 pin connectors vs. 40 pin on the touch, but changing the cable is less of a problem than the other parts

Thank you. Didnt know. Could i use a T440s screen since they arent in my opinion differently ? I found many touch full hd ips panels for the t440s. I just want to replace that screen.

I would expect that if you bought a bare panel, it would work, but I never tried it so I cannot guarantee. I believe no FHD panels were sold on T440 machines, si there may not be support, but my GUESS is that the parameters would be read correctly from the EDID.  An assembly from a T440s will not fit.

I found this one here in the meantime http://www.lcdoled.com/lcdoled-14-full-lcd-touch-screen-assembly-frame-for-lenovo-thinkpad-t440-b140rtn030-p1073880.html

in the resolution it says if you need 1920x1080, please let me know.so i asked them about it so lets see if they can offer me a Full HD one. If they cant, i have to try myself and see if its works, since the other from the video was also using an unsupported one from Samsung and it worked so i guess i just have to find a Touch one 40 pin

The T440 is a great laptop but not sure why they went with such a bad screen.
