Rescue/Recovery backup: Restore to different machine?

I need to swap from my T430s to an identical model so mine can be sent for repair. Is it possible for me to perform a restore on the new machine using a Rescue/Recovery backup from my existing machine? My goal is to avoid the setup and customization process to resume working as quickly as possible.

Yeah, I suppose but never used the software.

Re: Rescue/Recovery backup: Restore to different machine?

Sometimes the simplest idea is so easy to miss!   I'm still running Win 7 Pro and don't think there's any linkage between it and BIOS, so I'll give it a try.    Not sure if this technique would operate the same with Win 8 since I noticed the BIOS has several OS-specific attributes but I'm not sure if they are license-specific restrictions.  (My machine has a Win 7 preload but was packaged w/Win 8 recovery disks since it was produced after the Win 8 launch I suppose.)
