Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC Host Controller / Windows 8.1

Hi all

My T430s has a 04W3932 Ricoh Multi Card Reader. I have the "usual" problem that the card reader shows up in device manager, but an SD card that I insert is not seen. I have read all the threads on this subject I could find (quite a few) and manually installed this driver: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/g1s902ww.exe The driver seems to install ok, but the problem persists.

It is difficult for me to understand, why it should be so hard to publish a driver that works reliably and make this problem go away.

I would appreciate a suggestion how to tackle this

Thanks a lot

Rudi

Re: Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC Host Controller / Windows 8.1

Are you also running the latest BIOS?
What type of SD card is it? SDHC, SDXC?

Does installing the driver from this post help you?

Re: Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC Host Controller / Windows 8.1

Hi Jonas

Yes I am running the latest BIOS (2.58).

In the meantime I have been able to try out other memory cards and I found the following:

These cards are read correctly (there are TWO "device found" sounds when I insert them):

- Toshiba 2Gb SD

- SanDisk Ultra II SDHC 8Gb

- SanDisk micro SDHC 4Gb

- Transcend micro SDHC 16Gb

This card is NOT read (there is ONE "device found" sound when I insert the card):

- Transcend 150x SD 4Gb

This card is read without problems in the reader of a HP Elitebook 8570w.

This card is NOT read (there is NO "device found" sound when I insert the cards):

- Sony Memory Stick 4Mb

It looks to me like there is a compatibility issue with the Transcend 150x SD 4Gb car. The memory stick is probably too old to be compatible.

Thanks for your help

Regards

Rudi

Re: Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC Host Controller / Windows 8.1

Does the card show up in Disk Management? Is Windows assigning a drive letter to the partition?

Re: Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC Host Controller / Windows 8.1

I assume you are referring to the 4Gb SD card that is not being read. No, the card does not show up in disk management and in consequence windows does not assign a drive letter.
