Hi to all,
Have a 470p with 128ssd and 1Tb HD running windows 10
ssd has just failed and being replaced under warranty.
My question may be a bit dumb but what do I do after replacing the SSD to retain windows and other system info that is on the C disc ie ssd.
normal backup of docs photos etc is covered by normal backup to external HD and cloud but never had a "system disc" fail before and currently cannot access my 470p
All constructive suggestions welcomed - thanks

Did support offer you a recovery USB thumb drive? You may be able to create one here:
Failing that, you can create a USB drive from microsoft here:
Then install Lenovo Vantage to get Lenovo software and drivers. I suggest getting the spinning drive out of the machine when you install. That will make certain the image and boot loader all end up in the correct place. Then add your other drive in.

Many thanks richk for your prompt and helpful response.
Support did not offer a recovery usb thumb drive.
I will follow your link to create one.
Seems a very sensible idea to remove spinning HD whilst getting ssd reinstalled, thanks.
Would you recommend creating a recovery partition on the HD to mirror the Cdrive? and if so are there any Lenovo tools to do this or shall I look for a third party?
Will post success or not after weekend hopefully.

I use the recovery built into windows 10(control panel). I also use a 3rd party tool
