Screen Flickers violently when mains power is switched on.

2008-11-18, 21:23 PM

My new T500 is just two weeks old, if the laptop has been running on its battery as soon as I plug the PSU in and switch it on the screen flickers violently in the lower 2/3 of the screen. I have run the thinkvantage update and the BIOS, power manager & power driver has been updated.  The only way to stop screen shake/flicker is to either restart or I have put the laptop into standby and then back into windows which seems to solve the problem.  The machine has WinXP Pro Sp3 and is fully patched, it has discrete Intel graphics a P8400 processor and 2 GB of DDR3 RAM.  Is anyone else experiencing this or know what the problem is.

I do have the same problem with T400. Couldn't find a solution. Not sure, what to update.

I have seen the same problem. The user told me that if they shut the lid and then opened it the shaking screen would go way. This is annoying and seems like a common problem. Still looking for a solution.... On the other hand, I have noticed that the T500 docking is not as smooth as the T40/60 models. Now there is an eject button on the dock and the screen will flash and shake around. As before on the older models you could just pop it right off the dock will no problem. Must be something with the GPU they have switched to.
