Question

I am currently using T61 with a second hard drive bay adapter FRU P/N 62P4553. I am going to upgrade the laptop to T410.

I have two questions:

1. Is 62P4553 for PATA or SATA?

2. Can I use 62P4553 for T410?

Answer

The HDD adapter used in the T61 is not compatible with the T410 one, regardless of whether it is for the sata HDD or the PATA HDD.   So the answer is that you have to get a new HDD adapter. The 62P4553 is for PATA HDD.

The T410 uses a SATA ultrabay connector, while the T61 uses PATA ultrabay connector. Those T61 HDD adapter that allows you to install a SATA hdd have a SATA to PATA bridge chip.

For the T410, you will want to use Option P/N 43N3412
